Kobanî– The vicious attacks by Daesh (ISIS) terrorists attempting to occupy Kobanî continued on the 124th day. Terrorist groups who are using fresh reinforcements, tanks, and other heavy  weaponry, have been effectively defeated by our forces.                                                                     

In the morning hours of Friday Jan. 16, terrorist groups attempted for an attack after blasting a VBIED. Terrorist attacks concurrently targeted Asayish Department, the 48 Street, Mishtenur foothills, and the road to Termuk village, yet those attacks were repelled by our forces. Some terrorist groups who desperately tried to break our forces’ defensive lines, were cornered and eliminated by our units. After heavy clashes which lasted overnight, all terrorist forces were forced to withdraw.

During these clashes our forces destroyed a Humvee and another military vehicle of the terrorist groups. Also the airstrikes conducted by the Coalition forces destroyed 2 tanks of Daesh terrorists. According to the verification from the battlefield, 51 members of terrorist forces were confirmed killed during the clashes occurred in the past 24 hours. Along with 7 terrorist bodies, our forces managed to seize 7 AK-47 rifles, 22 magazines of AK-47, 1000 bullets, 1 RPG-7 rocket launcher, 4 rockets of RPG-7, and 10 hand grenades from the terrorist groups.

In these battles, seven of our comrades who played a major role to repel terrorist attacks, fought heroically and were martyred in action.
