The incomparable resistance that is being expressed by the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) against

terrorist attacks in Kobanê, has let that city to be there as a fortress of resilience which will not be trembled even by the harshest volcanoes.

The struggle in Kobanê truthfully drew the attention of all peaceable human beings, for it fights for human values that come under attack by a terrorist ideology.

 

Tens of young Kurdish men and women have since sacrificed their lives in Kobanê to earn victory against hostile forces, to bring freedom, equality, and justice as the values that a democratic society should hold to. Not to forget that terrorist attacks attempted by Daesh terrorists on Kobanê have been of the most intense attacks in the Middle East, yet these vicious assaults are all being defeated due to the resistance of our fallen martyrs.

 

During a brave defense on January 15, 2015, eight of our comrades showed a great resistance, fought heroically on the battle field and were martyred in action. We in the People’s Defense Units, promise to preserve the legacy of our martyred comrades and their steps until the last drop of our blood. Our deepest sympathies are with the families of those who were martyred for freedom.
