Kobanî– The resistance against terrorist attacks of Daesh (ISIS) on Kobanî continued on the 129th day. Our forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ)

are having the initiative in the battle against terrorist groups in the city, and at the same time continue the operations to complete the liberation of Kobanî.

 

Our forces last night conducted a simultaneous operation against numerous terrorist-occupied areas on the Eastern and Northeastern fronts of Kobanî. In this operation that was carried out in the Sukul Hal / Sinayî areas, and near the Dibistana Resh, all the targeted positions were positively cleansed from terrorist forces. In order to prevent our forces from further advance, the terrorists detonated a number of mines that they had planted earlier in the buildings of those areas, yet the attempt failed to cause any casualties. Another street near the Dibistana Resh was cleansed during this operation, our units of the YPG/YPJ also liberated the Sukul Hal, Mislax and Gaziya Heci Mehmud areas of northeast Kobanî from the terrorists, as well as rescuing half of the Sinayî region.

 

At least 9 members of terrorist forces were confirmed killed during this operation on East and Northeast Kobanî. In this operation 1 PK machine gun, 1 RPG-7 rocket launcher, and 1 AK-47 rifle were seized by our forces.

 

Terrorist forces yesterday evening attempted to carry out an assault against our forces who are holding the initiative in the hills of Mishtenur. Terrorist groups who tried to attack from three sides were heavily targeted by our units, and in due course they were effectively repulsed.

 

In the clashes of this region 8 terrorist forces were confirmed killed. Along with 6 bodies of terrorists, our forces were able to capture 7 AK-47 rifles, 32 AK-47 magazines, 700 bullets, 1 RPG-7 rocket launcher, 1200 PK bullets, 12 hand grenades, and 4 hand-made mines.

 

During the last 24 hours in Kobanî, two of our comrades fought heroically and were martyred on the fields of battle.

 

Tirbespiyê – In the morning hours of today (Jan. 22) a confrontation was experienced between our forces and terrorist groups of Daesh at the entrance of Xirbe Dîp village in Tirbespiyê countryside. After direct clashes, local villagers came to support our units and assisted to repulse the attackers. In the clashes on this region 3 terrorist forces were confirmed killed, a body of terrorists was seized along with a number of weapons and ammunition.

 

In the course of this attack two of our comrades were martyred and a civilian woman was injured as a result of initial firing by the terrorists. Another one of our comrades was martyred of combat wounds while being taken to hospital for medical care.

 

Til Hemis – Our units this morning led an operation near the village of Ebu Quseyip, north of Til Hemis region. In this operation our forces targeted a group of the terrorists who were on movements, destroyed a military vehicle along with the operatives inside. The number of terrorists’ casualties was not immediately verified.
